My Native - Sankagiri

Sankagiri - I will compare this place with NARNIA.

Have you ever been to NARNIA? I am not speaking about the movie here. The dream land NANIA under the control of King Aslan. Of course your answer will be ”NO”. Come to Sankagiri, you will be able to see a similar place.Hoi, Don imagine too much. Sankagiri is a place similar to your hometown. We are also normal human beings. The only difference is “ME - The King Vijay”. Now it is under the rule of Mr. King Vijay. I do not know whether I am an efficient ruler or not.But before few hundred years, she was efficiently ruled by TIPU SULTAN - the mysore tiger. He has a significant role in Indian freedom struggle. Pause: Know about Tipu Sultan:The first Indian used rocket Launchers efficiently in a war. Tipu Sultan employed about 5000 rocketeers in his army in 1788 and used them with much effect first against his neighbors. The English resented his control over the region of Cochin and Co org even though all that Tipu did was to ensure law and order in those lands. Moreover, the then English Governor General, Lord Cornwallis had a major blot to wipe out from his career. He had earlier suffered the ignominy of surrendering the English colonies of America to George Washington. Now, in 1790, despite claiming to be a man of peace, he chose to attack Tipu Sultan. The resultant war between the English East India Company and Tipu went on till 1792. In this war Tipu used barrage rockets against the English to great effect. Tipu preferred rockets because they were cheaper than small horse-mounted artillery guns. Moreover, rockets were easier to transport than artillery and their loud noise and flashes evoked shock and awe among the enemy.

In the Sankagiri Mountain, you can find such rocket courts, few weapon storing places, A sankagiri great wall, etc.

Most of us do not like history, that’s why Indian archeology department is not paying attention to safeguard these historically important monuments.Still there are a lot more to share about Sankagiri.
